Biography
Young Portuguese magician Rui Cruz is 36 years old, practices magic for
over 10 years and for the past 8 years as a full time professional who has
headlined at the Theaters Taborda, Sá da Bandeira as well as the Cultural
and Congress Center of Caldas da Rainha and Cine-Teatro da Nazaré.
Rui made his debut at the age of 14 as part of a theatrical play for a school
project with writing credits to his name. The following year he began to
explore the art of juggling and joined a local amateur theater group. Since
then, performing has been a lifelong passion. Later he joined a touring
street theater troupe for several years and was part of an act that featured
him as a fire breather, juggler and clown. Having discovered magic as a
perfect form of expressing himself, at 24 years old, his live was changed
forever.
Cruz blends classical pieces of magic with his peculiar sense of humor and
his own brand of comedy to create a unique, family-friendly show that is
sure to delight.
After being invited to be a speaker at TEDx Caldas da Rainha, Rui has
been invited to perform at hundreds of events in Portugal, Spain, France,
Switzerland and the Netherlands.
In his curriculum he already has participations in street arts festivals such
as the Lisbon Busking Festival, PASSOD`ARTE in Crato, Baixa
Street Fest in Faro, Caldas Anima in Caldas da Rainha, Óbidos Busker Festival,
Oporto Busker Festival, Hotter July in Alcochete,
the Óbidos Christmas Village as well as the Medieval Festivals in Óbidos and Elvas.
Rui’s magic is perfect for any venue including hotels, restaurants, bars,
resorts, festivals and much more! It is also family-friendly so it is perfect for
your company`s annual reunion, your wedding, your child’s birthday party or
any other family event.
